College Football

Craft to start at QB for UCLA
UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel has decided to start redshirt junior Kevin Craft at quarterback for the season-opener on September 1 against Tennessee.
NCAA Football Preview - Western Michigan Broncos
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: After posting back-to-back winning seasons, the Western Michigan Broncos took a step backward in 2007. The campaign got off to an embarrassing start for WMU, as the squad was buried by the West Virginia Mountaineers in a 62-24 final. The losing did not stop there, as the Broncos were also defeated by Indiana (37-27) and Missouri (52-24), marking the first time since 1996 that the team opened a season with three straight losses.
NCAA Football Preview - Toledo Rockets
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: After posting 12 consecutive winning seasons, the Toledo Rockets have suffered back-to-back losing campaigns, including last year's 5-7 ledger. The Rockets were pounded to open the season, as they dropped their first three matchups, losing to Purdue (52-24), Central Michigan (52-31) and Kansas (45-13). Toledo was able to break into the win column with a thrilling 36-35 victory over Iowa State, but head coach Tom Amstutz's team could not sustain the momentum and fell to Western Michigan in its next outing, 42-28. The loss to the Broncos did not knock the Rockets out of commission though, instead the team rallied and posted four wins in its next five games, including an amazing 70-21 victory over Northern Illinois. At 5-5, the Rockets were close to pushing for their first bowl appearance since 2005, but unfortunately that would not be the case as they dropped their final two decisions, falling to Ball State (41-20) and Bowling Green (37-10).
NCAA Football Preview - Temple Owls
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: It's not often a major college football program would consider a four-win season an achievement, but then there was the Temple Owls. Temple has been a nightmare on the football field for nearly two decades, and the school has not posted a winning ledger since going 7-4 back in 1990. The 2007 campaign opened exactly like the previous two seasons for the Owls, as the team dropped its first five games, losing four of those by double digits. However, unlike the previous Temple teams, the '07 squad was able to turn the tide in dramatic fashion, beginning with a thrilling 16-15 win over Northern Illinois. The excitement continued for coach Al Golden's club, as it used three fourth-quarter TDs, including one in the final minute, to slip past Akron, 24-20. Riding a wave of momentum, the Owls once again found the win column, defeating Miami-Ohio, 24-17. The win over the RedHawks gave the Owls their first three-game win streak since 1990.
NCAA Football Preview - Ohio University Bobcats
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: After posting an impressive 9-5 ledger in 2006, the Bobcats entered last season with high expectations, but inconsistent play led to a mediocre record. Ohio opened with back-to-back victories over Gardner- Webb (36-14) and UL-Lafayette (31-23), but the wheels quickly fell off for head coach Frank Solich's squad, which proceeded to drop four consecutive matchups. The Bobcats rebounded with three wins in their next four games, and the lone setback was a heartbreaking 43-40 decision versus Toledo. OU fell to 5-6 with a tough 48-37 setback to Akron, but was able to give fans at Peden Stadium one last thing to cheer about, as the Bobcats defeated Miami-Ohio in a 38-29 final. Although Ohio finished with six victories, it did not receive what would have been a second straight bowl invite.
NCAA Football Preview - Northern Illinois Huskies
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: 2007 was a rough year for the football program at Northern Illinois, as the Huskies posted their first losing campaign since 1999. NIU returned just three senior starters and dealt with a slew of injuries. The campaign opened with a weak effort against Iowa, as the Huskies fell to the Hawkeyes in a 16-3 final. The losing continued in the next two matchups to Southern Illinois (34-31) and Eastern Michigan (21-19). Fortunately the team was able to find the win column in its next contest, defeating Idaho on the road, 42-35.
NCAA Football Preview - Miami-Ohio RedHawks
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: After going just 2-10 in 2006, the RedHawks made positive steps forward last season, beginning with a thrilling 14-13 victory over Ball State. The following game against Miami-Ohio finished in negative fashion, 41-35, in triple overtime. Unfortunately the losing did not stop there, as the RedHawks were embarrassed in back-to-back contests, losing to Cincinnati and Colorado by a combined score of 89-10. However, coach Shane Montgomery's squad turned the tide and went on a three-game win streak, slipping past Syracuse (17-14) and Kent State (20-13) before pounding the Bowling Green Falcons, 47-14.
NCAA Football Preview - Kent State Golden Flashes
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: The Flashes were anything but golden in 2007, despite opening the season with a stunning 23-14 victory over Iowa State on the road. The Flashes were brought back to Earth in their next outing, as the team was pummeled by Kentucky, 50-26. Kent State proceeded to win two of its next three contests, defeating Delaware State (38-7) and Ohio University (33-25), but after the victory over the Bobcats, the wheels fell off.
NCAA Football Preview - Eastern Michigan Eagles
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: The Eagles have not posted a winning season since 1995, and unfortunately the team was unable to end that streak last year. EMU has been an embarrassment on the defensive side of the ball for quite some time, and that trend continued in 2007 as the Eagles opened with two straight losses to Pittsburgh and Ball State, and were outscored by a combined margin of 65-19 in those games. Mired in a seven-game skid dating back to the '06 campaign, the Eagles finally found the win column with a thrilling 21-19 victory over Northern Illinois. After a convincing 38-15 win over Howard, the Eagles had their wings clipped in a 30-7 setback on the road against SEC foe Vanderbilt.
NCAA Football Preview - Central Michigan Chippewas
2007 SEASON IN REVIEW: The Chippewas came into the 2007 season with a target on their backs, as every team in the MAC was looking to take down the defending conference champion. The quest for a repeat did not start well for the Chippewas as they were hammered by Kansas in the opener, 52-7. CMU did not let the feeling of dread linger as the team trounced Toledo in its next matchup by a 52-31 margin. It was back to the loss column the next time out as it was destroyed by Purdue, and then shocked by FCS foe North Dakota State, 44-14.
